We say "all are welcome" but our architecture tells a different story. Without accessibility ramps, our sanctuary signals to those with mobility needs are not welcome to preach, lead, read scripture, serve communion, or sing in the choir. Rebuilding our music loft and installing ramps reflects our commitment to welcome and inclusion of all people and abilities.
Our lighting is faulty, outdated, and performing poorly. We are borrowing extra lighting that presents a tripping hazard in the side aisles. It is time to clean up and replace our currently lighting with a lighting system that is efficient, safe, and more effective.
Churches have always used architecture and art to draw our attention to God. Our church is no different! In this renovation, we will highlight the cross and windows by moving other visual elements away from the chancel and framing the chancel in wood -- giving a nod to our location in the PNW.
